Giving Every Child a Chance
The idea behind an Inclusion Class is centered around creating opportunities for students with disabilities or social challenges to be educated in general education classrooms along with their nondisabled peers. Building an Inclusion Program that supports this goal requires input and cooperation from parents, educators, and occupational therapists. At Therapeutic Playground, we want to build an environment where children can learn and feel comfortable while developing essential skills. Our programs include a focus on occupational therapy, Bal-A-Vis-X (BAVX) exercises, behavioral and social support, handwriting, and developing gross and fine motor skills. The Inclusion for Special Education program in particular focuses on integrating children into Modesto schools through behavioral and social skills.
In our program, instructors and therapists work with children to help them improve focus and attention, practice classroom social skills, figure out effective behavioral strategies, and identify necessary accommodations needed for each child. Instruction is available one-on-one or in a group setting. We’ll determine the right course of action for the individual child through an assessment and after discussion with parents or guardians about goals. Each of our staff members is experienced in working with children who have a range of challenges and disabilities, including autism, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, sensory processing issues, behavioral issues, auditory and visual challenges, and more.
